The Committee have been informed of the sad passing of two Kidlington bowlers in the same week, Peter Fitzgerald and Frank Sarvari.

Chris Weller. (former secretary of Kidlington Bowls Club and current secretary of Bowls Oxfordshire) writes:

“When I began playing at Kidlington in the early 1990's Peter was very much the man to beat in Club Competitions winning at least one if not more trophies every year. He was also the winner in 1995 of the Champion of Champions competition.

He played in a number of County friendlies and was renowned for his deadly firing if shots were stacked against him!

Peter continued to play the game well into his nineties, and although not skipping was still a very reliable lead.

My abiding memory of Peter though will be his wonderful sportsmanship, always generous with praise if you had played a good shot, and forever gracious if you did manage to beat him.

Frank took up the game relatively late in life, but soon became a very competitive lead, and a regular member of the Men's League team.

He was a good Club man playing friendly games whenever he could, and enjoying the fun atmosphere these games were played in”.

These stalwart club members will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with Barbara, Jenny and their respective families.
