As you will all be aware the Government has announced the easing of restrictions as of Monday 17th May, moving into Step 3 of the roadmap.

Bowls England has responded accordingly and updated their guidance. The main changes that have been confirmed are:

1. All restrictions on formats for organised games ie league, matches and competitions have been removed. Changing rooms can be opened, but use kept to a minimum, so please continue to arrive ready for play. Toilets will be open with the continued restrictions of 2 persons only at a time and masks being worn when inside.

2. Casual play ie roll ups will still be restricted to the rule of 6, but increased numbers of up to 30 players can be allowed on the green at any one time. Toilets will be open, but not changing rooms.

3. Rinks will still have to be booked as the contacts list needs to be maintained.

4. Car sharing is permitted within the Government guidance for safe travel.

5. Spectators will be permitted, but need to adhere to social distancing rules, and limited to 30 people.

6. Indoor and outdoor hospitality will be permitted. Therefore the Clubhouse will open on Friday 21st May for practise and a social get together from 6.00pm. The rule of 6 applies within the club, with face coverings being compulsory when moving around. Drinks will be served to the tables. We are discussing with the caterers regarding the provision of meals after games and will update you all on this when it has been decided.

7. The Committee have been discussing how we can create opportunities for existing members to participate in practise when they feel safe and the integration of new members into the club. A proposal for a regular roll-up session, possibly on a Friday afternoon or evening has been put forward. Please speak to a member of the Committee and let us know what you think and if you would be interested in participating.

I must admit the Club has a vibrant feel to it at the moment, but we are looking forward to further lifting of restrictions in June. I do hope, however, you all feel able to come along to the Club under the current regulations, and continue to support both the Club and League fixtures.

Maureen and the Committee.
